An electrical transformer failure has caused widespread power outages within the City. Currently, over 1,400 residents are affected, as many areas of Macomb continue to experience power loss.
As of 2:30PM power remains out at the dispatch center, though efforts are underway to re-establish service. 911 calls are currently being rerouted to Hancock County and other surrounding jurisdictions to ensure uninterrupted emergency service response.
Ameren crews are actively working to fix the interruption. In the meantime, residents are urged to use caution while traveling, as traffic signals across the area are operating in flashing mode. Please treat all flashing intersections as four-way stops and proceed with care. Cooling centers are available at this time at Corbin Olson at WIU as well as retail partners not affected by the outage. Go-West routes 15 and 16 will be operating to take riders to the Corbin Olson cooling center.
There is no timeline for when the repair will be completed. Updates will follow when more information is available. Information about the outage can also be found at: https://www.ameren.com/illinois/outage-center.
