City of Macomb Downtown Development supports and promotes Small Business Saturday in Macomb.  This year’s Small Business Saturday is November 26, 2022.  For those unfamiliar with Small Business Saturday, it is a marketing effort started by American Express as a way to promote the small, independent business owner.  Small Business Saturday is inserted between Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a kickoff to the holiday shopping season and to encourage people to shop small.  The effort, started in 2010, has since been endorsed by the U.S. Senate and is now championed in all 50 states.  In 2021, 51 million shoppers participated and spent $20 billion on Small Business Saturday.

“Small businesses are very active and are the backbone to our community.  Sixty-seven cents of every dollar spent in small businesses stays in the local community.  Please support and help promote our small businesses this holiday season,” stated Downtown Development Director Kristin Terry.
