– City of Macomb Downtown Development announces the beginning of construction on the Downtown Revitalization, Phase II project.  The Phase II will include the removal and replacement of sidewalks, removal and replacement of existing light poles, and installation of street scape around the Square and including one block in each direction.  This project is staged into 4 sections: West Side, East Side, South Side, and North Side of the square.

McCarthy Improvement will begin on Monday, May 17, 2021 on the West side of the square. The planned work will start on West Jackson St and continue with the West side of Lafayette Street from Carroll Street to Washington Street.  During this stage West Jackson Street will be closed and it is requested that traffic follow detours posted to navigate into and around the square.  While work is occurring on the West side of Lafayette Street, traffic will be detoured to Randolph Street.  This stage of the project is estimated to take eight weeks, weather permitting

The estimated date of completion for the entire Downtown Revitalization Project is December 15, 2021.  More information can be found City of Macomb website (www.cityofmacomb.com), Downtown Macomb/Facebook page, or join us in the City Hall Community Room for weekly updates each Thursday at 2:00 p.m.  As the project continues to progress, updates will be provided in a timely manner.  “We appreciate your patience during this amazing transformation of the Historic Downtown,” stated Terry.
