The City of Macomb Public Works Department announces that the Mill and
Overlay surfacing project on Dudley Street, from Jackson to Jefferson; Pierce Street, from
Lafayette to Johnson; and Normal Street, from Jackson to Adams, will begin June 1, 2021
and is expected to be complete by August 2021. Gunther Construction has started some
preliminary sidewalk removal work but will increase their work areas starting next week.
This project includes the removal of approximately the top 2 inches of pavement across
the entire roadway (milling) and the placement of new pavement (overlay). In addition, new
ADA compliant curb ramps will be installed where required within the project area. Access
to these roads will be limited during this project. Please be alert for traffic control signs
when the contractor is working. The contractor will coordinate with residents and
businesses that are adjacent to the work zone so that they are aware of when their access
may be limited.
“Mill and overlay projects not only increase the life span of the roads, they improve the
overall appearance of the area, which makes it more inviting to residents and visitors to
Macomb.” stated Public Works Director, Alice Ohrtmann. For more information visit
