MACOMB FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED STRUCTURE FIRE

At 2:42 Am, Tuesday, January 04, 2022, the Macomb Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in a single-family home at 518 S. Johnson Street in Macomb. The Initial crew arrived on the scene at 2:46 am and found smoke and fire coming from the roof with a partial roof collapse. The home was determined to be vacant and defensive operations were established due to the lack of structural integrity. There were no injuries reported.  The fire was deemed Under Control at 4:18 am.

The residence had working smoke detectors at the time of arrival.

Currently the cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation by the Macomb Fire Department.

Five on-duty Macomb firefighters initially responded with an additional five off-duty firefighters being called in. The Macomb Fire Department was assisted on scene by Lifeguard Ambulance, Macomb Police Department, Ameren IL, and Macomb Public Works. The scene was cleared at 5:51 am.
