MACOMB LAUNCHES COMMUNITY SURVEY TO GUIDE CANDY LANE SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

MACOMB, IL The City of Macomb has launched a community feedback effort focused on improving sidewalk conditions, traffic safety, and accessibility along Candy Lane, a key corridor serving Edison School and a high-traffic residential area.

Two short surveys are now available: one tailored for parents and guardians of Edison students who walk, bike, or are driven to school, and one designed for residents and regular travelers along the corridor. Each survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

The data collected will directly support the City’s pursuit of competitive infrastructure grants that would fund future sidewalk repairs, ADA enhancements, and other safety improvements. The City’s goal is to ensure that Candy Lane is safer and more accessible for children, pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists alike.

City leaders emphasize that public participation is vital. “Every response matters,” said Jessica Biddenstadt, Grant Writer/ Coordinator. “Hearing from the families and neighbors who use Candy Lane every day allows us to demonstrate community need and maximize our chances of securing state and federal funding that benefits everyone.”

“We appreciate input from the public for this survey,” Mayor Michael Inman shared. “Responses collected will make a more attractive grant application that will lead to project completion,” he added.

Surveys are available through November 7, 2025. Respondents can participate by scanning QR codes available on the City’s website and throughout community outreach materials or by using the survey links hosted on the City’s platform.
