BE Alarmed! Smoke Detector Installation Survey

Smoke alarms will be provided, installed, & education will be completed by On-Duty Firefighters when time permits between emergencies and training, Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m

Only 10-year sealed lithium battery operated smoke alarms will be installed.

Hard-wired smoke alarms require a resident to contact a qualified and licensed electrician. The Fire Department is unable to replace hard-wired smoke alarms.

Smoke alarms received through the “Be Alarm!” program is only available for City of Macomb residents. Business owners, apartment complex managers, and landlords must supply and install their own smoke alarms for their tenants.

Smoke alarm informational pamphlets, home fire safety checklists, and home fire escape plans will be provided to the residents.

The department strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. Ionization alarms will be provided. Residents can purchase photoelectric alarms that the department will install upon request

The Macomb Fire Department will record and submit installation survey data including address to the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and Illinois Office of State Fire Marshall. Personal contact information (name, phone number and email address) will not be shared

Release from Liability • I understand and agree that the City of Macomb, Illinois Fire Safety Alliance (IFSA) and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) are providing no-cost smoke alarms to help address areas of the state at risk due to lack of protection provided by working smoke alarms.

In consideration of the Macomb Fire Department providing and installing these no-cost smoke alarms, I agree the owner(s), occupant(s), guests, and/or any associates of this property hold harmless, defend, and will not make any claim or demand or file any lawsuit against the City of Macomb, IFSA, or OSFM, their board members, officers, members, or volunteers including but not limited to any individual who is involved with the Smoke Alarm Program for any injury, death, damages, costs, or expenses claimed to have resulted from the smoke alarm installation process, its use, maintenance, or operation.
