The Finance and Human Resources Department of the City of Macomb plays a crucial role in ensuring the city's smooth operation and financial stability. The department manages the city's budget, oversees financial planning, and handles accounting and auditing functions to ensure transparency and accountability. Additionally, we handle the city of Macomb's water, wastewater, and garbage billing for citizens. The department is also responsible for payroll, employee benefits, recruitment, training, and maintaining a productive and positive work environment for all city employees. MACOMB WATER, SEWER, GARBAGE SERVICES, PARKING, ORDINANCE VIOLATIONS, AND LIEN FEES

BILLING
Water bills are mailed monthly, and are due within fifteen days.  A 10% late fee will be imposed on the day after the due date.
Failure of customer to receive bill does not exempt from monthly payment, late charges, or disconnection.

BILLS ARE NOT FORWARDED BY THE POST OFFICE.  WE MUST HAVE A FORWARDING ADDRESS!

Water and sewer bills are based on your consumption which is measured in cubic feet.
Water Rate  $6.04 per 100 cubic feet. (Effective 5/1/2024)
Sewer Rate  $3.84 per 100 cubic feet. (Effective 5/1/2024)
Garbage is a flat fee of $22.50 per month. (Effective 5/1/2023)
Debt service water is a flat fee of $11.50 per month. (Effective 5/1/2024)
Debt service sewer is a flat fee of $6.00 per month. (Effective 5/1/2023)
A minimum bill for water is $5.75 and sewer is $3.64 (this is consumption up to 120 cubic feet).
Meter maintenance fees vary depending on the size of the water meter.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES MAY BE INCLUDED FOR RESIDENCES OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS.

PAYMENT
We accept cash, checks, money orders and automatic bank payment.
Credit cards may be used 24 hours a day online at City Payments. From the menu bar select Online City Payments. A nominal fee will be charged by this service to the customer.

Returned bank items will be charged a $30 fee.

DROPBOX
A drive-up drop box is located in the north parking lot behind City Hall next to the light pole.
Payments are collected on open business days at 8 am.

DELINQUENT NOTICES
Courtesy delinquent notices are mailed shortly after a bill’s due date.  If a bill remains unpaid 10 days after the due date, the utility service is subject to disconnection.  There is a $30.00 charge to restore service during business hours and a $165.00 charge to restore service after hours.

DEPOSITS
City ordinances require renters to post a $100 deposit.  The deposit is applied to any outstanding balance after your account is closed.  If the balance due on the final bill is less than the deposit, a refund will be mailed to the depositor at his/her forwarding address.  Credit cards may be used by calling (855) 786-5290 24 hours a day. A nominal fee will be charged by this service to the customer.

Moving Out? Call 309-833-2031 to schedule a service disconnection date and leave a forwarding address.

Residential Waste and Recycling Pickup Schedule:
Monday
The north side of west Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the west side of north Randolph Street, continuing north and west throughout the northwest quarter of Macomb. Also includes Spring Lake Subdivision.

Tuesday
The south side of west Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the west side of south Randolph Street, extending south through the west side of Maple Avenue, continuing south and west throughout the southwest quarter of Macomb.

Wednesday
The north side of East Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the east side of north Randolph Street, continuing north and east throughout the northeast quarter of Macomb.

Also includes the area from the east side of Maple Avenue and the south side of east Grant Street throughout the lower half of the southeast quarter of Macomb. This includes Verzel, James Drive, Evergreen Drive, Pennyoaks, and Hidden Hills subdivisions.

Thursday
The south side of east Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the east side of Randolph Street, continuing south to the north side of Grant street and east throughout the north half of the southeast quarter of Macomb.

WHAT IS COLLECTED
Typical household wastes collected include: trash, garbage, rubbish and refuse. Liquid and household hazardous wastesare not collected.  Yard waste cannot be mixed with trash.

SETTING AT CURB-SIDE
Garbage carts are provided to each qualified residence.  Additional carts may be purchased.  Call 833-2821 for details.  These carts should be set out no earlier than the evening prior to the collection day and removed by the end of the collection day.  These carts are the property of Waste Management and are assigned to addresses, not individuals.

YARD WASTE
Yard waste must be bagged in PAPER YARD WASTE BAGS (no larger than five cubic feet), OR placed in trash cans (no larger than 40 gallons), OR bundled and tied with twine (no longer than four feet in length or 3 feet in diameter).  Loose or unbundled yard waste will not be collected.  The use of plastic yard waste bags is prohibited as they do not readily degrade. Yard waste bags/containers must have a sticker on each bag/container. These stickers are $1.50 each and may be purchased at City Hall.

COSTS AND CHARGES
Monthly fees for household waste collection/disposal services are included in the monthly water bill.
For items that will not fit into the residential garbage cart, customers may purchase additional $1.50 garbage stickers for extra bag/can or $20.00 large item stickers for couches, mattresses, white goods etc.  Each bag/can or large item requires a sticker before pick-up.   Stickers may be purchased at City Hall.

RECYCLING
Recycling carts are provided to each residence that qualifies for city garbage pickup. This service is provided every other week.  Please refer to calendar for pick up dates. Place only recyclable items in the recycling cart… no garbage or other trash. Keep a copy of the RECYCLE RIGHT guidelines close to your cart for a quick reminder and view the guidelines below.
