The Special Census in Macomb starts soon – Fall 2024. The City of Macomb and McDonough County are conducting a Special Census to count residents more accurately in certain areas of the community. We are recruiting Field Representative positions with the goal of recruiting 60 applicants
for those positions by the end of May. These are temporary positions that will conduct door-to-door surveys to count residents. The positions are a great opportunity to do interesting, meaningful work that will make a difference in our community.
Field Representatives will be paid $16.95 per hour, Field Supervisors $21.14 per hour, and clerical staff $16.95 per hour. All applicants do need to be U.S. citizens and the prospective field supervisor and field representative applicants need to be at least 18 years old.
The application for Field Representative is live and can be found at the following links: Direct USAJOBS link: https://www.usajobs.gov/job/752213900

The City of Macomb receives approximately $140 in Local Government Distributed Funds per resident. If we are able to count 1,000 additional residents, the City would receive approximately $700,000 between 2025-2030 in Motor Fuel Tax and other funding sources. These resources increase the City’s capacity to implement projects and invest in the community. Counting every resident will also support economic development and ensure our data is as accurate as possible for grant eligibility purposes. Recruiting the desired amount of Census employees will enable us to achieve the best and most complete count. Hiring for the Special Census is happening now, and successful applicants would need to
be available from late August through mid-November.
